  1. Lots of lowriders here, huh?

    • Hey Luxematic, thanks for the comment! Great blog you run I added a subscription to it in my reader!

I wanted to reply to your comment since this seems to come up quite frequently.

Saying there were a lot of “Lowriders” there — well, that really depends on your personal definition of “Lowrider”. If you were to ask me, I’d say “no, I didn’t see a single Lowrider in those pictures”… Unless by “Lowrider” you mean any car that’s moderately lowered/slammed to the ground — then sure!! There are tons of cars that fit that description in those pictures and in the VIP scene! In fact that’s a staple of the style – any VIP car worth it’s salt will have an air suspension or at least an adjustable coilover suspension.

But to me, the term “Lowrider” is a genre/style all to itself – epitomized by hydraulics, classic cars (especially the classic Impala and Monte Carlo), diamond tuck interior, 13/14 inch wire wheels, whitewall tires with high profile, chrome plated suspension parts and bright candy colored paint. I rarely see a true Lowrider laid out on the floor, almost always they have the suspension raised up on one or more corners to show off the detailed suspension systems.

To contrast, VIP Style on the other hand usually implies late-model Japanese luxury car; coilover or air suspension exclusively, 19/20/21 inch deep dish/fender flush high end wheels, low profile stretched performance tires, full aero, solid black, white or silver paint, lighting upgrades (extensive use of LEDs, 6k-15k HID bulbs, etc), custom stereo upgrades, high end exhaust with tips that usually extend past the bumper.
